How have the extraordinary new discoveries in museums across the world, new photographs of the treasures from Kabul, and objects now in private collections enhanced our understanding of the art of Gandhara? In four detailed lectures Prof. Naman P. Ahuja will reveal how objects tell us a story of the history of conflict, how its design and technique can tell us about trade, society and religion.
Using the latest volume of MARG, Gandhara: A Confluence of Cultures, Experimenter Learning Program will present a series of lectures by Prof. Ahuja.
Lecture 1: Early history [BMAC, Swat graves and Bactrian Greeks]
Lecture 2: The Cultural identity of a person from Gandhara [200 BC- 200 AD]
Lecture 3: Buddhism in Gandhara [1st - 4th century AD]
Lecture 4: From Hindushahi Gandhara to Ghaznavid/Ghorid Kandahar
This module includes a visit and walkthrough of the Indian Museum led by Prof. Ahuja as a part of the program.
