Kaul will suggest ways through which an engagement with Indian textiles can be generated. Beginning with the early 20th century till now, he will address questions about makers, making and materials, placing them within cultural questions of the Indian subcontinent. Referencing work and practices from fields of design, fashion and visual arts, he will address aesthetics, writing, as well as politics of knowledge that have prevented Indian textiles from being sufficiently seen in relation to other creative fields.
