As a next step from module XXIV that examined the aesthetic criteria of what it is to feel moved, this module considers the technologies of its failure. Over two sessions, we will interrogate our capacities to remain unmoved for symptoms of an injured sociality, an unhinging of form from life, and a global politics of inertness. Through examples from music, performance studies, and the anthropology of ethics, we will ask: What are the habits and practices that dull our modalities of attunement? Is it sometimes less dangerous to remain unmoved? Are different generations moved differently? How might the seemingly unmoved surprise us?
