Vinoja connects the human body with the land—treating skin and landscape as intertwined surfaces. The vertical lines resemble skin, symbolising how the body observes, absorbs and responds to the surrounding climate of ceaseless repression and brutality. In her practice, cloth often takes the form of a second skin, and here, the amalgamation of body and land serves as a reflection on historical injustices and the ethnic conflicts that have and continues to shape the lived realities in Sri Lanka.
