While many sought safety along these coastal routes, the journey was often perilous. The work captures this perspective of escape, focusing on those who fled by sea—among them the injured, people with disabilities, and others in urgent need of medical care or refuge. Land and Sea recalls the events of the war’s final days in 2009, when such attempts were especially common. In the aftermath, many survivors, particularly the wounded, grew fearful of returning to the sea. Their experiences and testimonies became part of the collective memory of the war’s final chapter.
