Titled ‘Spring New Pattern Exhibition’, this poster (1914) was for the Mitsukoshi Kimono Store by Sugiura Hisui, a pioneer among Japanese graphic designers. In 1908 Hisui joined Mitsukoshi as an in-house designer and created a new image for Mitsukoshi, which was in the process of transforming from a kimono store to a department store. Poster 20 depicts a woman relaxing at home reading a magazine while the background contains a picture frame depicting the evolution of the Korean jeogori.
