This work reflects the final day of the Sri Lankan civil war—a moment marked by a massive explosion. The landscape was scorched, covered in smoke and fire. The colours—grey and red—represent that destruction, the aftermath of airstrikes and bomb blasts. At that point, many people had come forward to surrender, but it is still uncertain who survived. From a distance of five kilometres, only two cars were visible in the burnt-out terrain. That moment left a deep impression on Vinoja—everything felt destroyed and erased. Through this work, she captures that haunting stillness and the violence etched into the land.
